Plauen Pitsimuuseum

Architects Birte Böer, Liis Lindvere
Co-authors Joseph Sturm Maris Kaskmann Teele Strauss
Project year2017
Completition year2021
LocationBleichstrasse 1, Plauen - Saksamaa

The design concept aims to create a modern and holistic visitor centre for Plauen lace. The new exhibition shall both educate and generate excitement. Its leitmotif develops from Plauen’s role as the Capital of Lace and from the lace itself as a special textile with its extraordinary patterns. Visitors will be guided through the building to learn about the world of lace, the history of the local textile industry, the technical background, lace patterns, the cultural history of lace and the link between art and technology. Numerous multi- media and hands-on stations as well as the museum education room help to provide visitors with a memorable experience.
