Indrek Allmann elected the new President of the Union of Estonian Architects

04.03.2014

On 27 February, KUMU’s large auditorium hosted the General Assembly of the Union of Estonian Architects, during which a new President and a Presidency of 20 Members were elected for the Union the next two years. Indrek Allmann was elected President of the Union of Estonian Architects.

The outgoing President, Peeter Pere, who will continue on the Executive Board of the Union, hopes that 4 years were able to produce a strong platform for improving how architecture is understood.

“We were on the radar during the boom; however, the subsequent harsh realities have not seen architectural culture remain as sustainable,” Pere pointed out, wishing the new President every success in the significant improvement of the current position.

Indrek Allmann says that the Union of Estonian Architects one of the oldest public organisations in the Republic of Estonia.

"For the next few years, I consider the most important objective to increase the amount of joint endeavours taken with various creative organisations in the field of architecture and thereby gaining increasing public attention and achieving better economic efficiency. A solution is needed for the issue of how the state could involve good architects in steering the quality of the space surrounding us more than to date,” Allmann outlines the key agenda items in his new post.

Born in 1972, Indrek Allmann completed his tertiary education in architecture in the Faculty of Architecture at the Estonian Academy of Arts. From 2004, Allmann works as Head Architect and Partner at Arhitektuuribüroo Pluss OÜ.

Allmann’s best-known projects include the Nordic Hotels Forum and the Hotell L’Ermitage in Tallinn, the Tulbi-Veeriku apartment buildings in Tartu, the Kentmanni 6 office and residential building in Tallinn, and a number of interesting private residences across Estonia.

Indrek Allmann has been a member of the Union of Estonian Architects since 1999. He has been a Member of the Presidency of the Union since 2000 and served in the capacity of the Vice President of the Union from 2006 to 2010.

Peeter Pere, Jaak Huimerind, Kalle Vellevoog and Aet Ader (as newcomer), in addition to Indrek Allmann, will continue on the Executive Board of the Union of Estonian Architects.
